HP's Latest Virtualization Solutions

hpIn many ways, HP has been one of the main innovators and industry leaders when it comes to virtualization. Recently, HP has significantly enhanced the virtualization solutions in its portfolios by updating both its t5740e Thin Client and its HP MultiSeat solutions. Both of these areas have seen significant advancements, all of which demonstrate just how committed HP is to its virtualization solutions offerings and to its customers.

The HP t5740e Thin Client

Let’s take a look, first off, at the Thin Client. This box – which is designed to create the most “PC-like” user experience possible on a thin client – has received some significant updates.  You’ll not find:
•    AMD graphics chips that now support as many as four digital outputs – simultaneously
•    A Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator that gives you top-quality digital video viewing
•    Dual-threaded Intel Atom processors
•    Windows Embedded Standard 7, including support for both VMware and Citrix, as well as having RemoteFX and RDP 7.1.
With pricing ranging from $529 for the base model to $949 for the model that supports four monitors, you can begin to see the draw.

According to data from a major reseller, HP is at the top of the list when it comes to selling Windows thin clients. In fact, they sell more than their next five competitors together.

Expanded HP MultiSeat Solution

HP MultiSeat, which works with a number of HP thin clients, has also seen some improvements:
•    Added compatibility with HP servers and with Windows MultiPoint Server
•    New support for both QuickTime and Flash
•    USB keys to allow localized individual client access
•    Account privileges for up to 10 clients, as well as unique IP and MAC addresses

The MultiSeat Solution is aimed at small business customers as well as education. HP developed the solution along with Microsoft, and it is designed to help keep the per-seat costs affordable for those areas like small businesses and education that are often on much more limited budgets.

This summer, HP will be providing more information, technical tools, sales kits, and more to its reseller partners to support the new products. If your company is interested in implementing thin client technology but have been concerned about costs, these new HP solutions are worth taking a look.
